The Paedegat Athletic Club (PACPLEX) has been committed to enriching people’s health and lives through sports and recreation.
Located in Canarsie, Brooklyn, between the Belt Parkway and Flatlands Avenue, PacPlex has a 75,000 sq. ft. Health Club, 3 Indoor Basketball Courts, Indoor Soccer Field, 2 Indoor/4 Outdoor Swimming Pools, Boxing Arena, Racquetball Court, Restaurant and a Private Dining Room, with 200 Car Onsite Parking. OMB performed a detailed ASHRAE Level II energy assessment and installed the Watchdog Controller for all of its HVAC units. Savings in HVAC energy costs per year alone was approximately $50,000. In addition, financing was arranged to deploy an additional $300,000 in equipment and controls with a payback period of less than 3 years, providing an opportunity for the building to save an additional $100,000 per year and see a cash positive implementation almost immediately.
Lighting upgrades were performed by OMB to effectuate the study’s savings using local utility energy efficiency incentives to reduce the initial construction costs.
